Gekko, the Angeleno, is an intriguing addition to the world of Valorant, bringing a unique set of abilities to the game. As the leader of a tight-knit crew of calamitous creatures, Gekko relies on teamwork and synergy with his buddies to create chaos and control on the battlefield. Whether you need information or maybe another pair of hands to defuse the spike, Gekko and his crew have you covered.

Strengths

  • Gekko’s abilities are rechargeable if he can retrieve his fallen buddy, allowing them to be used multiple times in a single round.
  • Wingman enables Gekkos team to be safer around planting and defusing the spike, since the little guy is able to do both while you aid your team in gun fights.
  • Gekko’s kit can be used both to aid your team, and to play for yourself if it comes down to it. This adaptable playstyle can make your ranked climb much easier.

Weaknesses

  • The information Gekko provides isn’t precise. While his flash might tell you if an enemy is in the area, it doesn’t tell you exactly where or what enemy agent you’re walking into.
  • All but one of Gakko’s abilities can be broken by gunfire and or mollies placed on the ground, so if enemies are quick enough, they can disable your utility before it gets a chance to be effective.
  • Gekko’s ultimate, thrash, is very strong in the right hands. However, one misclick could send your fish-like friend hurling into your team, detaining them instead of the enemy.

Skill Breakdown

Ability 1 (C) – Mosh Pit

Equip Mosh and fire to throw it like a grenade. Use alt fire to throw it underhand. Upon landing, Mosh duplicates across a large area. After a short delay, it explodes with devastating force.

Ability 2 (Q) – Wingman

Equip the Wingman and fire to send it forward, seeking out enemies with determination. Wingman unleashes a concussive blast toward the first enemy it sees. Alternatively, use the alt fire when targeting a Spike site or planted Spike to have the Wingman defuse or plant the Spike. To perform the planting action, Gekko must have the Spike in his inventory. When the Wingman’s time expires, it reverts into a dormant globule. Simply interact to reclaim the globule and gain another Wingman charge after a short cooldown.

Signature Ability (E) – Dizzy

Equip Dizzy and fire to send her soaring forward through the air. Dizzy charges up and then releases plasma blasts at enemies within her line of sight. Those struck by her plasma are left blinded. When Dizzy’s time expires, she transforms into a dormant globule. Interact with it to reclaim the globule and gain another Dizzy charge after a short cooldown.

Ultimate Ability (X) – Thrash

Equip Thrash and fire to establish a mental link, guiding her through enemy territory. Activate to swiftly lunge forward and trigger an explosive detonation, detaining any enemies within a small radius. Once Thrash’s time expires, she transforms into a dormant globule. Interact with it to reclaim the globule and gain another Thrash charge after a brief cooldown. Remember, Thrash can be reclaimed only once.

Tips and Tricks

Tip #1 Take Command of the Spike

One of Gekko’s most powerful abilities is his impact on the spike, which sets him apart from others. His capacity to assist in retaking the spike or relieving teammates from the perilous task of planting it is undoubtedly Gekko’s greatest strength. Therefore, it’s crucial to prioritize picking up the spike at the beginning of each round, while reserving the trusty Wingman for defusing and planting purposes. Only deploy the Wingman when absolutely necessary to advance your team’s progress, as it’s most effective in dealing with the spike itself.

Tip #2 Keeping your Globule’s Safe

After Gekko uses either Dizzy, Wingman or even Thrash a small orb or globule is left on the ground after their use. Picking up these orbs in order to use your abilities a second or even a third time in a round is what really separates good Gekko players from masterful Gekko Gods. So, always try to think about where your buddies are going to land before you throw them. You always want to try and retrieve them if possible.
