Viego Quick Guide – Abilities, Tips and Tricks for Beginners
Champion At a Glance
Viego is a melee, bruiser, fighter specializing in controlling deceased enemies’ bodies. With the use of his Blade of the Ruined, King Viego can reliably shred any target with an overwhelming amount of Physical Damage. Experienced Viego’s will consistently be able to play every champion he faces against to utilize Sovereign’s Domination fully.

Strengths
- Sovereign’s Domination (Passive) grants Viego excellent snowball potential within skirmishes and teamfights if he and his team can secure an initial takedown
- Harrowed Path (E) grants Viego creative playmaking potential by keeping opponents guessing about his exact location
- Blade of the Ruined King (Q) allows Viego to effectively clear jungle camps and neutral objectives while staying healthy
Weaknesses
- Viego can feel underwhelming in fights if unable to secure wraith takedowns
- He can be quickly focused down if crowd-controlled or isolated by multiple enemies
- Viego lacks mobility in team fights and can be easily kited without access to Heartbreaker (R).
Skill Breakdown
Passive Ability – SOVEREIGN’S DOMINATION
Enemies who fall before Viego become wraiths. By attacking a wraith, Viego temporarily seizes control of the dead enemy’s body, healing for a percentage of his target’s max health and gaining access to their basic abilities and items. He replaces their Ultimate with a free cast of his own.
Q Ability – BLADE OF THE RUINED KING
Viego’s spectral blade passively deals bonus percent current Health damage On-Hit and strikes twice vs. enemies he recently hit with an Ability, stealing Health. Viego can activate this Ability to thrust his zweihander forward, impaling enemies before him.
W Ability – SPECTRAL MAW
Viego charges up before dashing forward, releasing a ball of concentrated Black Mist that stuns the first enemy hit.
E Ability –HARROWED PATH
Viego commands the Black Mist to haunt and surround a piece of terrain. Viego can hide in the Mist as a wraith, gaining camouflage, Move Speed, and Attack Speed.
R (Ultimate) Ability – HEARTBREAKER
Viego teleports to a nearby location and executes an enemy champion on arrival, piercing their heart and causing a destructive shockwave around them that knocks away their allies.
Tips and Tricks
Tip #1 – Cancelling the Animations
Viego can use both his Blade of The Ruined Kog Maw (Q) and his Spectral Maw (W) to auto-animation cancel. Use this combination to push out high amounts of damage in quick succession.
Trick #1 – Shaking Off CC
Viego’s Heartbreaker (R) makes Viego invulnerable to crowd control. Make sure to use this when engaging team fights and skirmishes.
Trick #2 – Making Use of the Enemy Abilities
Viego players, when they transform into an enemy champion, should utilize all the enemy’s abilities before transforming into the next champion or using Heartbreaker (R) again.
