Jett Quick Guide – Abilities, Tips and Tricks for Beginners
Agent Overview
Archetype | Playstyle | Difficulty | Tier List Rank |
---|---|---|---|
Duelist | Entry | Medium | S Tier |
Jett is meant to be piloted by players who have great mechanical skills. Her kit doesn’t inherently provide much value to her team unless matched with a player who can capitalize on the openings they afford. Everything this agent allows you to do is going to happen rapidly, and as a result, you’ll need to be quick on your feet to get the most out of this agent.
Strengths

- Jett can easily dictate the pace of fights with her elusive kit and has the unique ability to escape bad situations with her Tailwind dash.
- She can take an exceptional amount of space and cause mayhem for your opponents when her skills are used properly.
- Jett has the ability to deploy smokes on the fly, without the setup that controller agents require. These smokes are situational and non-committal.
Weaknesses
- Newer players can struggle to find success on Jett if they lack the foresight required to utilize her abilities fully.
- Jett’s Tailwind dash has to be primed before its use which can leave you vulnerable if misused.
- To pull off-meta plays, Jett players must have a fast reaction time and higher than average skill level to take down opponents with the tight openings her abilities provide.
Skill Breakdown

Ability 1 (C) – Cloudburst
Instantly throw a projectile that expands into a brief vision-blocking smoke on impact with a surface. Hold the ability key to curve the smoke toward your crosshair.
Ability 2 (Q) – Updraft
Instantly propel Jett high into the air.
Signature Ability (E) – Tailwind
Activate to prepare a gust of wind for a limited time. Re-use the wind to dash in the direction Jett is moving. If Jett is standing still, she propels forward.
Ultimate Ability (X) – Blade Storm
Equip a set of highly accurate throwing knives. Fire to throw a single knife and recharge knives on a kill. Alternate Fire to throw all remaining daggers, that will not recharge when an opponent is killed.
Tips and Tricks
Tip #1 – Stay Mobile and Unpredictable
Jett’s abilities can be combined quickly to catch your opponents off guard. One great example of this is using her Updraft and Tailwind abilities to enter a position very quickly and then land on a tall object, such as the middle pillar on Haven’s B Site (as shown in the video). Notice in this clip that Jett starts by throwing her Cloudbursts to block off any enemies playing close on B Site, then combines Updraft and Tailwind to take space, and finally lands a shot on the unsuspecting Sage player. As a bonus to this tip, Jett’s Blade Storm can be added to the mix to give you accurate shots while moving at high speed.
Tip #2 – Leave Your Smokes with a Plan
Jett can take space quickly when using her Tailwind dash when combined with her Cloudbursts. As you can see in the clip, Jett completely dashes through A Long into A Site. The Cloudburst obscures her opponent’s vision of her and forces them to question where she’ll peek. This is where creativity and situational awareness come into play. When in her smoke, Jett can come out at any angle she chooses and the enemy has to react. The most important part of finding success with this tip is ensuring that teammates nearby are ready to capitalize on the space that’s been gained.
Tip #3 – Rebinding for Comfort

Jett’s signature ability Tailwind can be bound to a secondary key bind such as your mouse button. This is an important tip because the default key bind of “E” conflicts with your ability to use your WASD movement key binds. It will take time to get used to this new change. However, you don’t have to change the key bind entirely, but rather add a secondary key bind.
