His unique ability to combine smokes with battle utility is unmatched by other agents in his class. Brimstone’s Stim Beacon can enable his teammates to enter sites and take space rapidly. On top of this, Brimstone’s Incendiary enables him to block off common angles and even play post-plant. The main weaknesses of this agent are in his smokes specifically. While they’re easy to learn and use, Brimstone’s smokes are broadly considered some of the weakest in the game because of their short lifespan and deployable range. All of this being said, though, if you’re interested in learning the controller role, Brimstone is a great place to start.

Strengths

Brimstone’s smokes are very easy to use and can be deployed quickly.

He has three combat abilities that offer more firepower than any other controller agent can.

Brimstone can deploy multiple clouds of smoke at once, making him great for taking complete control of a site.

Weaknesses

Brimstone’s smokes can only be deployed at a short range, which makes him less desirable than agents like Omen and Astra on specific maps.

His ultimate is very easy to escape from and is limited in its ability to take map control.

Brimstone’s smokes are limited in capacity, don’t recharge, and have a shorter lifetime than other agents in the controller class.

Skill Breakdown

Ability 1 (C) – Stim Beacon

Equip a stim beacon. In this video, Brimstone opens with his Sky Smokes and completely blocks vision from the most common angles on Fracture’s B Site. The player then throws down Brimstone’s Stim Beacon to get into the site quickly before enemies can reposition through the smokes. Since the Sky Smoke nullified her angle, Sage decided to push past the smoke and try to reposition onto the site. Since the Brimstone gained speed from his Stim Beacon, he could get into the site before Sage had time to reposition to a better angle and eliminate her.

Tip #2 – Orbital Striking Post Plant

Brimstone’s ultimate Orbital Strike is a very powerful tool for post-plant situations. In this video, Brimstone plants the bomb on the A Site on Fracture and ensures it’s planted for A Main. This is important because it allows Brimstone to play from A Main and forces his opponents to clear more angles before tapping the bomb. In this example, when the opposing Sage begins defusing the spike, Brimstone sets his Orbital Strike on the bomb, forcing her to retreat. This play is strong because it forces opponents into a bad position with less time on the clock and allows Brimstone to play post-plant much more safely.

Tip #3 – Better Smoke Placement

When using Brimstone’s Sky Smoke, you should think specifically about the depth at which you’re placing it. In the first example in the video, our player places a “shallow” smoke that covers Market on Ascent’s B Site. This smoke is counter-intuitive because it offers your opponents a small bit of cover that your teammates will most likely be caught off-guard by. Rather than placing smokes like this, you should place them as shown in the second example. “Deep” smokes limit your opponent’s options by showing their weapon and character model sooner and offering your team a clear line of sight to hold. You can also practice these angles on the custom VALORANT Tasks on Aimlabs!

Hailing from the United States, Brimstone is not only a VALORANT agent, he’s also the leader.
