Harbor is a very dynamic controller agent. His kit is unique and only shows any comparison to Viper. On the surface, Harbor’s abilities can seem rather underwhelming because they do require some creativity and mechanical skill to find value. But once a player spends time getting used to Harbor’s high-potential kit they’ll notice a lot of success in thwarting the opponent’s plans.

Strengths

  • Harbor’s ability Cove deploys a smoke orb that has 500 health. This orb is a great tool for blocking off common choke angles and taking control of spike sites.
  • His signature ability High Tide is a dynamic and powerful wall. This ability can be difficult to use, but when mastered provides great cover to take control of any area on the map.
  • Harbor’s ultimate ability Reckoning not only displaces enemies with the concussive blasts but also reveals their location with lightning strikes in the sky.

Weaknesses

  • All of Harbor’s abilities are difficult to use, and take some time to fully master. Before taking him into ranked, consider honing in his mechanics by playing quick play or custom matches.
  • The slow effect provided by Harbor’s abilities Cascade and High Tide are rather underwhelming and don’t debilitate opponents the way you may think.
  • Harbor’s ability Cove completely disappears once it’s destroyed. This can lead to situations where when the cover falls, you’re caught off guard. To counter this, try to be mindful of the fact that this ability is unique in its destructible potential.

Skill Breakdown

Ability 1 (C) – Cascade

Equip a wave of water. Fire to send a wave rolling forward. Re-use this ability to stop the wave. Any player hit with this ability will be slowed. Cascade can travel through walls and objects.

Ability 2 (Q) – Cove

Equip a sphere of shielding water. Fire to throw, and Alt-Fire to underhand throw. Upon impacting the ground, spawn a water shield that blocks bullets. This ability has 500 health points and disappears upon its destruction.

Signature Ability (E) – High Tide

Equip a wall of water. Fire to send the water forward along the ground. Hold Fire to guide the water in the direction of your crosshair. As this ability is directed, a water wall will appear along the path you guide it. Alt-Fire will stop the water early. Any player who crosses this wall will be slowed.

Ultimate Ability (X) – Reckoning

Equip the full power of your artifact. Fire to summon a geyser pool on the ground. Enemy players in the area are targeted by geyser strikes. These strikes will concuss any player caught in their radius, and reveal the location where they are spawned.

Tips and Tricks

Tip #1 – Clearing Angles with Reckoning

Harbor’s ultimate is a very powerful tool for clearing large angles. One great application for this ability is on the attacking side when you haven’t cleared many angles. To use this tip effectively you should gain some control of a site, and then use your ultimate ability Reckoning to clear the deep angles on the spike site to ensure that you have control. Any enemies caught within the radius of this ability will be severely disrupted and an easy kill for your team. You also get an accurate location of where they are inside of your ultimate.

Tip #2 – Using Cove with Chokepoints

Harbor’s bullet-deflecting orb Cove is a great tool for crossing those dangerous angles that are more difficult to clear. These angles exist in a few ways, and in our video, we showed how to block off the tunnel on Breeze’s B Site. Other examples include mid-doors when taking the A Spike Site on Breeze, Market on Ascent’s B Site, and the list goes on and on.

These small connector angles are a great candidate for applying this tip because they’re small enough that the ability covers them comfortably and it’s not too difficult to land the ability due to the relatively small area that has to be covered in the examples provided above. Keep in mind, Cove can be destroyed and walked through, so don’t think of this ability as a complete safety net, and be mindful of the angle you’re covering with it.
